pro bono web design

Your organisation deserves a beautiful website

Empower community engagement and drive your reach with an effective web presence.

Pro-bono web design services for non-profits and small businesses in our local community.

I’m offering to design, develop, test and host websites at cost as a way to boost my portfolio and give back to the community.

As apart of my data-driven design approach, I research by engaging your stakeholders with interviews and surveys, which helps me to make the most delightful experience possible for your users.

I build my websites on industry-standard open source CMS WordPress, which is designed to bridge the gap between usability and functionality. WordPress is highly extendible with thousands of custom modules that can be loaded and offloaded at any time.

I have over 7 years experience creating innovative digital experiences for all kinds of clientele, and would love to partner with you and deliver a project that smashes your goals.

This is a benevolent gesture of free service that I am providing as a way of kick-starting my business while also boosting yours. You will just need to provide all the content needed and pay for reasonable expenses incurred.

My typical design process takes around 4 weeks from planning to launch.

1. I meet with you for a discovery session where I can learn more about your project and set goals for success.

2. Once a proposal is signed, I conduct a competitive analysis and user research with your customerbase.

3. I create an information architecture for your website with pages and features.

4. I design low-fidelity wireframes (the skeleton of your website) and request content from you.

5. I code a working version of your website using WordPress.

6. You can request revisions to the website, and I’ll be hard at work optimizing it’s performance, security and SEO.

7. I test for bugs and compatibility across mainstream browsers and devices using Browserstack.

Obviously since this is a free service, there is a limit on what I can build for you without needing to charge. Anything insanely complicated or highly business focused will be quoted at my traditional rate.

You’ll need to pay for all expenses incurred with the construction of the website. Once it has launched, you also need to pay for the web hosting on a monthly basis ($55/month). We host on high-performance Google Cloud infrastructure and integrate security, performance and uptime monitoring with care plans. You also need to register your domain name on a yearly basis.

(To who’s profit?) So in other words, why have I chosen to offer this service and what do I have to gain?
Not only am I passionate about the local community and wish to give back to it as much as possible, my goal is to dedicate 5% of my time to community projects. This includes open source software and local groups. In addition to this goal, I also gain more portfolio entries and strive to make them as perfect as possible.
